The art of conversation is important in whatever business you are in.  Trying to generate residual income online is going to require you to do a lot of talking to people.  As a home business owner the money is made on the phone talking to the prospects you find.  It is as simple as that.

I know when I started I hated talking on the phone.  It was probably the biggest thing I had to over come in order to truly work the business.  There are times when I get nervous and don't feel like doing it, but I have no choice.  I know there are many opportunities out there that give you a script and tell you just reciting a script to a prospect is enough to get them to join.  They tell you that you can't say anything wrong to the person who truly wants to join you.

That is how they keep you from generating the residual income you want out of your business, because they don't just recite from a script.  When a prospect is looking to you for help in finding what they want, they want to have a conversation with you.  That involves asking them questions and being interested in what their needs are.  People only care about themselves, and if you spend your whole conversation talking they are going to feel left out.


People always wonder what is in it for them.  Your job in this conversation is to show them how this helps them out based on their needs.  How would you know their needs and desires if you don't ask them anything?  Many scripts I have seen tell you to ask them if they are serious about making money online.  That is one of the first questions you ask them.  They tell you to expect a yes or a no and anything else the person isn't interested.

In what world does that make any sense?  People want leaders and in order to be a leader you need to first know what your followers need.  Prospects are looking for you to help them generate residual income.  If you don't listen to them they will find an other person who does and you lost out on their business.  Just think of prospecting as connecting with other people, learning something new about someone else.  If you approach it in this manner, you will experience greater success.
